I have recently contracted LAP to refurbish my apartment in St Johns Wood. I am pleased to say the work was completed to my satisfaction. The whole process was hassle-free. The pricing was reasonable, no need to haggle. The quote was clear and detailed for me to follow and check. The staff was responsive and helpful for additional small repairs. More importantly, they were transparent when the work experienced some slight delate. I felt dealing with an honest party. Now, all the flooring, carpet, kitchen work-top and bits and bobs been done up, cleaned and neatly placed, for my disposal. Thank you LAP and special thanks to Luke Apps.

I hired LAP well before my arrival into London (as a non resident landlord) to replace an old integrated fridge. LAP visited my property thrice to inspect and measure up the space prior to my arrival. I selected a model that was approved by the team that took the measurements. Team was great up until the point of installation, when we realised that the doors of the fridge opened at less than a 90 degree angle, which meant having to slide the drawers of the fridge in and out diagonally. Being a let, I was keen on drawers sliding in and out as straight forward as possible (one cannot rely on tenants being “careful” at the risk of damaging the drawers). I was bullied by the staff on site and told that the installation was “to standard”/“functioning” and in perfect working order (I have pictures of the drawers having to slide out at a 60 degree angle!). When I asked them as to why was this not considered during their multiple site visits prior to my purchase of the fridge, their reply was: “you hired us to quote you for a new fridge, not to reassess the layout of your kitchen”. If I am abroad, I hire you to be my eyes. If I want to simply quote for a new fridge, I can go onto John Lewis Online and quote for a new one myself. I don’t pay you £200 and above to visit my property. I tried calling Luke and Edward on the phone straight after the incident as I was on a tight schedule to get it all done prior to my departure from London, but they were evasive and only communicated with me via email, with a delay. Ultimately, I had to pay extra (nearly double than what had been originally quoted installation-wise), to change the placement of the door handles and some other tweaks, to allow the doors to open at a wider angle and not leaving it looking a mess. I completely accept a degree of human error and oversight at any job and are always happy to adapt and go along with it. I also understand that the doors of my integrated furniture were “fixed”, but the door of the fridge was too thick (not an obvious thing to consider during a site visit). But where I responded with patience and flexibility for the mishap, I only received arrogance and denial in return. When I explained this to Edward, he literally said to be me the job had been done to standard, so “no apology needed”. How much does it cost you to just be courteous and appease your customer? They went on about how much time I had cost them on site, making the handy man change the door handle multiple times to check whether that would be a successful solution (not that I was equipped to make it and precisely what I had hired a company for). They completely disregarded the fact I had hired them well in advance, precisely not to have to BE with them on site! Each day in London cost me at the least £200/day of lodging and boarding; and I ended up using at the least 4 of them working around their schedule to visit the property, instead of a straightforward one-day-visit installation at the cost of my personal commitments in London. Like I said, I can accept a degree of human error, but there was not even an apology the whole time + evasiveness + arrogance and the constant bullying of their workers on site (as if I was being petty about drawers sliding out at an angle). I would have been completely ok with the whole thing, had LAP shown a minimum degree of deference, called back to apologise and be present for a solution. I would have probably continued to work them. When they sent me the final invoice which was of course a lot higher than the initial estimate and I tried to negotiate it to a more reasonable amount, they even went as far as to withhold the fridge’s invoice (not that it was strictly necessary to register the fridge for its warranty) until I settled the amount they asked for. Great at the job, yes; but extremely arrogant and unprofessional
